Spain, creator of McAfee antivirus found dead after ok to extradition to the US

by admin

John McAfee, the creator of the anti-virus of the same name, was found dead in his Barcelona prison cell after the Spanish high court authorized his extradition to the US. All clues point to a death by suicide, the Duipart of Justice said. He was 75 years old.

The judicial affair and the charges of evasion

McAffee was arrested on 3 October 2020 at El Prat airport, when he was about to take a plane to Turkey. The arrest came at the request of US justice, which accuses McAfee of evading millions of dollars in taxes from profits allegedly made from activities such as cryptocurrency trading. Audiencia Nacional judge José de la Mata ordered his incarceration, and his extradition to the United States was already planned.
