The body was found by coast guard operators after the group raised the alarm
CAGLIARI. A 20-year-old diver, Gabriele Ibba, died tonight 12 July drowned in the stretch of sea in front of the Sella del Diavolo. He was part of a group of six diving enthusiasts in the sea who in the afternoon on a rubber dinghy made numerous excursions in the depths in front of the Sella del Diavolo. At the time of returning to land at sunset, one of the group was missing and the searches by friends proved useless. The alarm was given to the Port Authority-Coast Guard who sent a patrol boat and rubber dinghies to that stretch of sea in front of the promontory, to which the firefighters were added.
The searches with the lighthouses on board the boats went on until 10 pm when the lifeless body of the diver was sighted and fished out. He did not have cylinders and it is still not known whether he dropped them because he was in trouble or if he didn’t have them at all. The body was then transported on a fire brigade boat to the tourist port of Marina Piccola.
