On Saturday 13 January, at 11.30, in the Sala degli Elementi of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Mayor Dario Nardella will present the Golden Florin to Antonio Patuelli, President of the Italian Banking Association.
The Golden Florin is the highest honor of the City of Florence, awarded on the proposal of the Mayor, to citizens who for their «notorious work in the fields of culture, the arts, work in all its expressions, politics, assistance , philanthropy, sport and international activities have given particular prestige to the City and the institutions and rendered service to the national and international community and are therefore worthy of being singled out for public praise”.

The Golden Fiorino, an ancient currency established at the time of Florence’s great expansion, in 1252, when more and more merchants, bankers and businessmen were electing the Tuscan city as the Wall Street of the Middle Ages, has an extraordinary symbolic value for Florence , represents with its Florentine Lily and the image of San Giovanni, Patron Saint of the City, a special recognition for the activity carried out, as well as a coveted symbol of identity and closeness to the city. A closeness that Antonio Patuelli has demonstrated since his studies, graduating in 1975 from the Faculty of Law of the University of Florence and which he then continued over the years both in his intense cultural and economic and banking activities as President of the ABI .
