Construction work starting for the Termoli gigafactory: «It is a strategic investment for Acc – Automotive Cells Company, as it will allow us to satisfy the growing demand for high-performance and sustainable batteries for electric vehicles. The project will also create significant economic and social benefits for the Molise region and for Italy as a whole, representing over 2 billion euros in investments and creating at least 1,800 jobs by 2030.”

This is how Acc comments, on the group’s Linkedin page, the meeting on 15 January between the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and a delegation from the company, led by CEO Yann Vincent.

The joint venture

Acc is the joint venture between Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz and TotalEnergies responsible for building three gigafactories in Europe, the first in France – already inaugurated – the second in Germany and the third in Italy, at the existing Stellantis plant in Termoli.

Work in the start-up phase

During the meeting with the minister, “the progress and potential of our Termoli Gigafactory project, which will be one of the largest and most advanced battery production plants in Europe”, were discussed. The support of Mimit, we read further in the Acc note, «has never been lacking and the minister has once again expressed his commitment to contributing to its success and to the future competitiveness of our Italian gigafactory now that the construction works are in the process of start”.

Production in 2026

«We look forward to starting construction work on this extraordinary plant in the coming months and starting production in 2026. The Termoli gigafactory will be a cornerstone of Acc and its goal of providing innovative and sustainable batteries for mobility of the future”, concludes the note. «The strong support of Mimit in Italy is certainly very necessary and appreciated», commented Vincent.
