Alef Aeronautics Unveils Model A Flying Car at Technology Event in Spain
At the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, Alef Aeronautics, an American company based in California, showcased its latest innovation – the Model A flying car. The Model A is an all-electric two-seat sedan with vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) capability, designed to revolutionize personal transportation.
The futuristic design of the Model A features a fiber mesh chassis, giving it a sleek and stylish appearance reminiscent of science fiction flying cars. The vehicle has received a special airworthiness certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), allowing for test flights to be conducted.
Jin Dukhovny, founder and CEO of Alef Aeronautics, describes the Model A as “one small step for airplanes, but one big step for cars.” The company’s goal in creating the Model A was to bring the concept of flying cars from the realm of science fiction to reality, providing a practical solution for urban transportation.
The Model A offers a range of 322 kilometers per charge in land driving mode and 170 kilometers per charge in flying mode. It features eight propellers with an independent electric propulsion system, allowing for vertical takeoff and landing as well as horizontal flight.
Customers interested in purchasing the Model A can now make reservations for the expected release in 2026. Reservation options include a $150 general shopping line spot or a $1,500 priority place in line. The anticipated price for the Model A is nearly $300,000, with the company aiming to eventually lower the cost to less than $100,000.
Alef Aeronautics has already received 2,850 pre-orders from eager customers intrigued by the prospect of owning a futuristic flying car. The Model A represents a significant advancement in personal transportation technology, promising to revolutionize the way we travel in the future.
