An office in Milan places Ukrainian refugees in the world of work, from catering to healthcare

An office dedicated toprofessional placement in Italy of Ukrainian refugees, especially for those who now look to Italy as a country where they can start over. She set him up Bonelli Erede law firm, relying on the existing work of the Cometa di Como non-profit organization. The joint venture allows a real start to work – especially in those sectors where there is more need, from the catering to healthcare -, and is financed by the Municipality of Milan and the Lombardy Region.

The Cometa non-profit organization already has a long experience in supporting people who have left the recovery communities. The outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine has opened reflection on how to introduce people who have been here for months, and who could stay in Italy for a long time, into the world of work. Much has been done by volunteering and associations for immediate reception, now it is necessary to be included in a more stable way, with real opportunities for emancipation.

The office organized by Bonelli Erede’s lawyers is located in Via Marostica 3, in Milan. Here you can also find a cultural mediator and a psychologist (open Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00). At the moment it is a unique experience in Lombardy, while it already exists in Rome with the Elis non-profit organization. In Milan, an attempt was made to replicate the experiment.

Ukrainian citizens are profiled to understand their attitudes, including through psycho-aptitude tests, and put in contact with businesses, whose needs are listened to. At the beginning of the month, the first hundred people had already been selected, and the first workers had been hired.

«BonelliErede wants to be a bridge and a point of exchange of resources and skills between the world of profit and the world of non-profit. The aid center has already met and profiled over a hundred refugees, in many cases with excellent skills, especially digital, and plans to meet many more. It is not simply a matter of finding employment for Ukrainian refugees in a time of need, but rather of mapping knowledge, skills and attitudes that can lend a hand to those fleeing dramatic contexts, and at the same time represent an opportunity for those companies that have decided, and will decide, to join the project – he says Marcello Giustiniani, project leader – Starting from an aptitude profiling, both on current and prospective skills, today the intersection between supply and demand concerns above all professionalism in the catering and healthcare sector, up to the development of digital profiles. From this point of view, the aid center is a training and integration project which, through the precious support of partners and institutions, aims to build a valid opportunity for refugees seeking new economic and social serenity ”.
