Arvedi, agreement with Autoliv for carbon neutral steel

The steel producer Goodbye and the supplier of automotive safety systems Auto life have signed a cooperation agreement for the supply of Arvzero, the carbon neutral steel produced from recycled scrap through the use of 100% certified electricity from renewable sources. Autoliv is a company active in the automotive safety systems sector.

This was announced in a note from Arvedi which explains that Arvzero is a carbon steel based on the production of an electric furnace loaded with recycled scrap to achieve the goal of sustainable steel.

“This agreement” explained Andrea Brambilla, automotive key account manager of Acciaieria Arvedi, “represents a fundamental stage in the partnership between our companies. With the supply of Arvzero™ our commitment is to support Autoliv not only in the decarbonisation of the supply chain , but also in increasing the content of recycled material in their products.”

“The collaboration with Acciaieria Arvedi will represent a significant step in our efforts to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of our products, using low-emission steel and increasing the content of recycled material to achieve the goal of “net-zero emissions” of the entire our supply chain by 2040″, explains Cosmin Bakai global raw-material area director of Autoliv.
