AT&T to Compensate Customers After Nationwide Network Outage
After thousands of people in the United States were left without phone and internet service due to a widespread network outage last Thursday, telecommunications giant AT&T has announced that it will compensate affected customers.
The wireless network failure, which lasted for 12 hours in some areas, left many AT&T customers unable to make calls or access the internet. In response, AT&T has stated that they will be offering a $5 credit to affected customers’ accounts as compensation.
“We have contacted potentially affected customers and automatically applied a credit to their accounts,” AT&T said in a statement.
The compensation credit will be applied to AT&T WirelessSM accounts and will be distributed over two billing cycles. It should be noted that the offer does not apply to AT&T Business, AT&T Prepaid, or Cricket customers.
AT&T has assured its customers that they are taking steps to prevent similar outages from occurring in the future. The company stated that the network disruption was the result of a technical error and not a malicious attack.
In other news, a new law has been passed in Florida that prohibits minors under the age of 16 from using social networks. This legislation aims to protect young users from potential harm online.
AT&T’s efforts to compensate affected customers and improve their network reliability demonstrate their commitment to ensuring that customers stay connected.
