Massimo Frascella, an Italian, returns to take care of the style of the Audi brand. It is impossible not to mention Walter de Silva, responsible for the four rings since 2002, capable of giving the car company a stylistic turning point at the basis of a great commercial success. Born 54 years old in Massa Carrara, Frascella is one of the most appreciated designs in the automotive world and, therefore, has all the skills to manage a brand that makes design one of the pluses of its premium offer. He began his career in the world of automotive design immediately after finishing his studies at the Institute of Applied Arts and Design in Turin, where among other things he specialized in Transportation Design in 1997. Until 2001 Frascella worked at the Centro Bertone style, before moving on to Ford. In 2005 he then moved to Kia and in 2011 to Jaguar Land Rover, where he took on the role of chief designer, designing numerous models from the British group’s last years, from the Land Rover Defender to the Discovery not to mention the Velar. “Joining Audi is a very special moment for me – commented Frascella – I am honored to take on the role of Chief Creative Officer and to lead such an ambitious team to ferry the future of a brand towards new levels of both innovation and distinctiveness . I am confident in the emotional power of design to inspire, connect and even drive change and I am here to cultivate and promote creativity as the beating heart of the Audi brand.” Among other things, Frascella’s choice will be to report directly to the managing director Gernot Dollner who, immediately after taking office at the top of the brand, had decided to bring the design department back under his direct supervision. “Design has always been part of the heart of our brand, of its DNA – explains Dollner – which is why in a phase of great technological transformation, our motto At the cutting edge of technology must be visible both inside and outside of all our future models. Massimo Frascella will ensure that Audi vehicles best express the brand’s identity through a design language that is both unmistakable and exciting. Clarity, precision and perfect proportions are at the heart of its design philosophy, qualities that also fit perfectly with Audi’s image.”
