Big Oil, the Energy Agency calls for a stop to the new wells. But that’s not enough to stop global warming

Born in the 70s to act as a bass drum for the oil industry, the IEA, the International Energy Agency, a branch of the OECD, that is of the rich countries, has (very) slowly changed its attitude towards Big Oil , until the big leap of recent days: “Enough oil” he proclaimed. In reality, the effective ban is more limited: if we want to remain in a reasonable world, which will not warm up more than a degree and a half by the end of the century, the agency says, we must stop looking for and opening new wells, contenting ourselves with those that they already produce gas and oil.
