Boeing reports new problem with long-haul jet 787 Dreamliner

Dhe US aircraft manufacturer Boeing has identified a new defect in its long-haul 787 Dreamliner jet, which has been plagued by a production breakdown series, and has slowed deliveries. Boeing is currently investigating a number of machines that have not yet been handed over to customers that may require rework before delivery, the company said on Tuesday. According to the current state of knowledge, however, the problem is not acutely relevant to safety and should initially not change anything in the delivery target for the year as a whole.

The US group said it was still optimistic that it would be able to deliver 70 to 80 of the wide-body jets this year. The error relates to a horizontal stabilizer attachment and requires inspection of all 90 Dreamliners in inventory.

A delivery freeze applied from May 2021 to August 2022

Boeing’s shares have meanwhile fallen by almost 3.5 percent. The Dreamliner – one of Boeing’s most important aircraft models – has caused more problems in recent years. Due to various production defects, the aircraft was not allowed to be handed over to customers from May 2021 to August 2022. Also with the Boeing series 737 Max there have been problems lately.
