Brorhilker, who is responsible for Cum-Ex investigations, announced on Monday that she would be moving to the non-governmental organization Finanzwende, declaring, among other things, that she was “not at all satisfied” with how the fight against financial crime was going.

Thomas Liebel, federal chairman of the BDZ German Customs and Finance Union, called for more resources: “If the money laundering paradise of Germany is to be drained, we need more qualified financial investigators who are given effective powers to confiscate assets. It must be made easier for our investigators to cut off criminals’ money and take away the profits from their crimes,” he said.
