With the first official photograph, Ferrari has unveiled the prototype of the Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) category with which it will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023. Precisely on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the first edition of the most famous endurance race in the world, therefore, the Cavallino band will return to compete in the premier category of the Endurance World Championship. The development of the Hypercar was completed by Ferrari Competizioni GT. “It is a truly exciting moment and awaited with trepidation both by the people who worked on this project and by the fans of our house”, declared Antonello Coletta who is responsible for all GT sporting activities of the Modenese brand and therefore also of Le Mans.
Fifty years after Ferrari’s last presence
The path that will coincide with participation in the centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans includes from today on an intense development program that will be carried out by the official drivers of Ferrari Competizioni GT. It must also be said that 2023 is not only the year in which the 100th anniversary of the first edition of the 24 Hours will occur, for which the organizers foresee a historical record of attendance also for the return of many leading manufacturers, but it will also occur the fiftieth anniversary of the last presence of the Cavallino in the premier class of Le Mans.
