A life for politics
Roberto Giachetti has been involved in politics for over forty years. His militancy began as a young man in the student movements. At the age of 18 he joined the Radical Party, also working for Radio Radicale. Later he joined the Federation of the Greens for which he was district councilor in Rome. From 1993 to 2001 he was the closest collaborator of the mayor of Rome Francesco Rutelli, together with Paolo Gentiloni, Michele Anzaldi and Filippo Sensi. He too will later become a supporter of Matteo Renzi like them. In 1999 he left the Federation of the Greens and joined Rutelli in I Democratici by Romano Prodi and Arturo Parisi. In 2002 he was one of the founders of the Margherita and became its secretary in Rome. He first becomes an MP in 2001.
