[Epoch Times November 02, 2021](Epoch Times reporter Li Bing comprehensive report) Recently, the well-known Chinese restaurant chain Haidilao International Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Haidilao”) once again exposed food safety incidents. So far, the market value of Haidilao has lost HK$350 billion from its highest level this year.

According to data from Qixinbao, recently, Tongji Road Branch of Shanghai Laopai Catering Management Co., Ltd. was fined RMB 20,000 for producing and operating food and food additives that marked false production dates, shelf life, or exceeded shelf life.

The penalty document showed that during spot checks, law enforcement officers found a box of expired “Lao Pai Tofu” in the vegetable dispenser in the kitchen garnishing area, and the above expired food was not marked no longer to be used.

The aforementioned food safety incidents in Haidilao quickly rushed into the hot search list on Weibo.

In recent years, Haidilao has repeatedly exposed food safety incidents. The company’s official website announced the self-detected problems, including the issue of expired ingredients, equipment failure, and unsanitary operation.

Just last month, Henan TV reported that at the Haidilao New World Department Store in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, Ms. Geng found a crispy belly of Lao Pai for 72 yuan/200g when dining with a friend, but it was actually only 138g after serving. Subsequently, Haidilao responded in an emergency, saying that the water loss was caused by the characteristics of the product.

In early May 2017, a reporter from the “Legal Evening News” entered the Haidilao Beijing Jinsong Store through an interview and transferred to the Haidilao Sun Palace Store at the end of July. The reporter found that there were rats hidden in the ingredients room, serving room, fruit room, and washing room of the two stores, and they even crawled into the food cabinet. The brooms and rags used to clean the sewer are also used to clean dishwashers and lockers, and are washed in the sink.

Compared with the historical high of 85.80 Hong Kong dollars per share set in February this year, Haidilao has fallen by 76%, and its market value has fallen from nearly 470 billion at its peak to less than 120 billion Hong Kong dollars, and its market value has evaporated by 350 billion Hong Kong dollars.
