The incomes and consumption of Italian families rose in 2021 compared to 2020, the year of the outbreak of the pandemic, but will again be disrupted this year by increases and inflation. The alarm comes from Codacons, in the wake of Istat data released today, according to which in 2021 household disposable income increased by 3.8% compared to 2020, consumption expenditure by 7% and purchasing power by 2 , 1%.
“The data on consumption, income and purchasing power of citizens are however destined to be distorted in 2022, as a consequence of the abnormal growth in energy bills, expensive fuel and the escalation of retail prices, emergencies that are impoverishing families and that will inevitably have negative effects on all national economic data ”, says the president of Codacons, Carlo Rienzi.
