If you want to get an idea of tomorrow’s Barolo, keep an eye on these four girls between 25 and 32 years old: Federica Boffa, Giulia Negri and the duo Lara Rocchietti and Luisa Sala. The first took over from Padre Pio Boffa the baton of the Pio Cesare winery, a historic and noble brand that has its foundations in the heart of the city and the coat of arms of Alba proudly on the label.
The second has recently taken over the reins of the Serradenari company and says: «Now it’s my turn and my bottles. Few, less than forty thousand, and each, from the first to the last, will have to know how to tell all Serradenari ». The last are two girls from the city who landed in Langa six years ago buying half a hectare of vineyard: now that the managed hectares are 4, they have understood that the initial dream is becoming a company and that the garage where they make wine in Serralunga is becoming narrow.
If you want to hear their stories, just participate on Tuesday 26 April in “There is more taste in Alba”, the event that Il Gusto, or the place of food, wine and travel of the Gedi group, organizes at the Teatro Sociale in collaboration with the Atl Langhe Monferrato Roero, the Municipality of Alba and the Vinum fair. It will be an entire day dedicated to wine and its links with the territory, an opportunity to meet the protagonists of the wine world, haute cuisine and journalism, with an eye to the sixth World Conference on Wine Tourism organized by Unwto (the United Nations body that governs global tourism), which will be hosted in September on the Unesco heritage hills of Langhe, Monferrato and Roero, which have now become an essential destination for globetrotters attracted by quality food and wine.
The appointment will open at 10.30 with a talk conducted by Giuseppe Bottero, head of the Economia della Stampa editorial staff, and Lara Loreti of Il Gusto, dedicated to the young generations who are changing the world of wine: producers, journalists, influencers, opinion makers will discuss the new languages to tell whites, reds, rosés and bubbles. With the barolo girls, there will be the influencer Anais Cancino, the oenologist Gianpiero Gerbi, the first Italian Master of Wine Gabriele Gorelli and the sommelier Cristina Mercuri. Then Luca Ferrua, director of Il Gusto, Enzo Vizzari, director of Le Guide de L’Espresso, and Andrea Grignaffini, curator of I Vini d’Italia, will offer a preview of the “Wines” section of the Guide I Restaurants and Wines of Italy 2022.
An exclusive preview in view of the official presentation in Florence on May 10th. The most interesting wines will be available to the audience for a guided tasting, preceded by an interview with the national president Fisar Luigi Terzago.
The afternoon will look at the relationship between wine and great restaurants and the territory. From 5.30 pm a series of appointments with great chefs, producers and protagonists of the food and wine world will tell the story of Italian and local excellences. Luca Ferrua will talk with the Il Gusto journalist Eleonora Cozzella, with the producers Alberto Chiarlo and Camilla Lunelli of the Ferrari Cellars and with the chefs Enrico Crippa and Pino Cuttaia. To describe the path that in September will bring Alba to become the world capital of wine tourism, Alessandra Priante, director of the Europe World Tourism Organization, the president of the Region, Alberto Cirio, the mayor of Alba, Carlo Bo, and the president of Atl Langhe will speak. Monferrato and Roero, Luigi Barbero. Introducing the concept of team between kitchen and cellar will be the mental coach Dario Silvestri with chefs Anthony Genovese and Paolo Griffa. In closing, the director Massimo Giannini, who will celebrate two years of management of the Press on April 26, will talk about how the team was born today, protagonist in the story of Italy and the world.
