In Intesa Sanpaolo’s next industrial plan, “we will accelerate the reduction of the NPL portfolio, in order to become one of the best banks in Europe”. Thus the ceo of Intesa Sanpaolo, Carlo Messina, during a debate on the occasion of the 126th national council of the Fabi union.
“The issue of derisking will be one of the important components of our plan”, added the head of Intesa, underlining the importance that banks, in general, get rid of the ballast represented by non-performing loans (NPLs).
“Banking groups need to minimize the risks of the business and we are working on this (…) This is an indispensable necessity, because the prospective dynamics must not find in the quality of credit a gate that prevents the dynamics from being transformed of revenues and costs in net profit “.
