The recovery of the Italian construction sector continues in June. According to data released by IHS Markit, the PMI construction index reached 57.9 in June, down slightly from the 14-year record in May of 58.3, signaling another rapid growth in construction activity. During the entire second quarter, the average index reached its highest ever since the second quarter of 2001 of 57.9.
“While inflationary pressures and supply-related issues remain the main concerns for the sector, companies have remained highly confident about business growth over the next twelve months. The government eco-bonus and super-bonus schemes have once again been cited several times as the main source of optimism and, in fact, if demand remains high, the sector should continue to grow during the third quarter, ”Lewis commented. Cooper, economist at Ihs Markit.
