JetBlue Airlines to Add Six New Direct Flights to Puerto Rico

San Juan – JetBlue Airlines has announced the addition of six new direct flights from the United States, Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and the Caribbean island of Santa Cruz to Puerto Rico’s three main international airports. According to a statement released on Wednesday, the new routes will begin operating in October.

The flights will connect the cities of Providence, Rhode Island; Westchester County, New York; Santiago, Dominican Republic; Medellin, Colombia; Cancún, Mexico; and Santa Cruz, Virgin Islands, to the airports in San Juan, Aguadilla, and Ponce.

The flights from Providence and Westchester County are set to begin on October 27, followed by the routes from Santiago and Cancún starting the next day. The Cancún route will operate three times a week, while the flights from Medellín will begin on October 29 and run four times a week. The Santa Cruz route is scheduled to start on December 12 and operate once a week.

JetBlue President Marty St. George expressed the airline’s excitement about expanding its service to Puerto Rico, having been a part of the community for over 20 years. The expansion is expected to inject about $89 million into the local economy and add 273,000 new available seats.

In addition to the new routes, JetBlue will also launch the JetBlue Mint service between New York’s JFK International Airport and San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport on July 22. The Mint service includes fully reclining seats, restaurant-style meals, and more travel options.
