European elections, Zaia: “Voting for Vannacci? I would feel like a traitor”
“If I vote for Vannacci? I would feel like a traitor, How can I not vote for a Venetian?”. The president of Veneto said it, Luca Zaia, answering journalists’ questions about the candidacy of General Vannacci (who, it must be remembered, will not be at the top of the list in the North-East as in the Center and the South).
“I think that (Vannacci’s candidacy, ed.) must be respected, seen and considered which is a prerogative of our secretary. I like to remember that there is a good list of candidates here and I am sure that they will also be able to express a good result in terms of preferences given that they are well-known people”, specified Zaia.
“His ideals are the Constitution and the Constitution provides for autonomy so this applies to everyone. Autonomy is also provided for by the Constitution. Everything else is digressions on the topic”. Zaia underlines that the League has different values than the General. “We confirm our values. I have seen statements that cannot be shared but I absolutely do not want to give rise to further controversy. In fact, I think that this country has already questioned itself for perhaps three, four, five days on the topic of disability and other things but I think we are moving forward on our own path. The general is running as an independent: the League has its values, the general will have others.” The president of Veneto Luca Zaia said this while commenting on General Vannacci’s statements on the sidelines of a press conference organized in Venice.

“I know you shouldn’t say that but for me he is a “great character”. It was a moving and touching meeting especially at the Giudecca women’s prison.
