Legacoop: first half in the sign of recovery

by admin

A first half of the year marked by recovery, which can be seen in particular in the manufacturing, construction and services sectors, and in larger companies; positive expectations for the second half of the year, both for the economy as a whole and for its business sectors, which also translate into a strengthening of the propensity to invest for over a third of companies.

In summary, this is the trend highlighted by the cooperative enterprises belonging to Legacoop, as emerges from the results of the economic survey carried out by the Research Area on the associates.

In the first half of 2021, 25% of companies saw an increase in demand compared to the same period of the previous year. A trend that is strengthened in comparison with the second half of 2020, with 32% of the sample showing an increase (while 21% shows a decrease), with increases above the average for industrial cooperatives (52.6% ), construction (53.8%) and services (38.5%).

On the other hand, the difficulties of cooperatives in the sectors relating to cultural, tourist and entertainment activities are confirmed, which more than others have suffered the effects of prolonged closures. On a dimensional level, the largest cooperatives have seen demand grow to a greater extent (44% of the sample).

The data relating to foreign demand is also improving compared to the previous survey, even if the share of companies that recorded a decrease (35%) is still higher than the cooperatives that have seen it increase (19%). Furthermore, 39% underline that exports are conditioned by negative factors, primarily Brexit and Covid.
