The Minister of Economy and Trade of Libya’s National Unity Government, Mohamed al-Hwaij, announced that the country is ready to build four international airports in the near future.

In an interview with Sky News Arabia, al-Hwaij also recalled projects for the creation of cross-border roads and routes to Africa, such as the road from Misrata to Niger and the road from Benghazi to Sudan and Chad.

Among other priorities, the minister indicated the agricultural sector, with particular attention to achieving food security through the production of crops such as wheat, olives and dates.

The industrial sector is also central, especially in terms of construction materials such as cement and other related products. Efforts have begun to develop Libyan legislation that encourages private investors, both foreign and domestic, to increase their investments in these areas. Al-Hwaij added that Libya is encouraging foreign oil companies to return and invest in the oil sector, especially after the discovery of new sites and the granting of concessions, noting that the development of the oil sector has a positive impact on the economy and price stabilization.
