Many sources say that Apple plans to cut off the SIM card tray on the iPhone earlier than expected-Apple iPhone

An unreliable source from a Brazilian blogger said, Apple plans to remove the SIM card tray assembly from iPhone 15.The source stated that the iPhone 15 Pro model released in 2023 will provide consumers with dual SIM card support, but only two eSIM cards can be used. If the message is true, it means that the model will not use the SIM card tray.

Although this rumor is questionable considering industry agreements and international requirements, it has already gained some support in some way. On Sunday, an anonymous person said that Apple had told US operators that it would launch a pure electronic SIM card model in September 2022, a year earlier than previous rumors. The whistleblower also provided the publication with a “seemingly legal document” outlining the timetable for the launch of the plan, although the document did not specifically mention the iPhone or Apple at all.

Allegedly, the plan will involve some operators starting in the second quarter of 2022 to provide iPhone 13 without nano SIM in the box. If this is correct, then in theory Apple will do the same with the “iPhone 14”.

The leaker @Dylandkt posted on Twitter on Monday that he “agrees with the recent rumors about the removal of the physical SIM card tray”, again adding evidence to the rumor. The leaker also retweeted a February 14 post in which a claimed source alleged that Apple wanted to remove the tray more quickly and was testing an iPhone with only eSIM.

Given that the iPhone sold by Apple in China has a tray that can accommodate two SIM cards, and the continued international demand for this model, it seems unlikely that Apple will cancel the SIM tray anytime soon. Although many operators provide eSIM services, Apple is likely to still produce models with SIM card trays, as well as the so-called pure eSIM version.
