Microsoft says Windows 11 free upgrade may be a limited-time offer-Windows 11

by admin

Just like Windows 10, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 devices can be upgraded for free, and Windows 11 will be provided to some computers running Windows 10 for free. The free upgrade is expected to start in the fall of 2021, although Microsoft explained that most eligible computers will get it in early 2022, as part of the global promotion, it will be carried out in phases.

But more importantly, although Microsoft did not announce when the free upgrade promotion will end, the software giant does not rule out this possibility. It explained that at some point, it may no longer allow qualified Install Windows 11 on the device for free.

Microsoft said that the free upgrade of Windows 11 will last for at least one year, which means that if the owners of eligible Windows 10 devices upgrade in the first 12 months after launch, they should be able to install the new operating system for free.

“The free upgrade offer does not have a specific end date for eligible systems. However, Microsoft reserves the right to finally end support for the free offer. This end date will not be earlier than one year after the general supply,” Microsoft explained.

If owners of eligible devices choose not to upgrade to Windows 11, they can continue to use Windows 10 without any pressure, because the current operating system will be supported until 2025, and upgrading is not mandatory, although they insist on using Windows 10. Many improvements will be missed, including a new start menu and taskbar experience, support for Android apps, and more.

Microsoft plans to launch Windows 11 this fall. There is evidence that the operating system will land on the first OEM devices in October, but most devices will have to wait until 2022 to start pre-installation.
