The Public Ministry (MP) recently conducted a search, inspection, and seizure of evidence at the La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala. The operation was led by the Office of the Prosecutor for Crimes Against Intellectual Property in coordination with the Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The purpose of the operation was to locate counterfeit electronic devices and accessories, specifically targeting products from Apple such as iPhone, EarPods, AirPods, iPod, and MagSafe. The procedure focused on kiosks in the airport, particularly in the area where hearing aids, external batteries, and industrial designs resembling those of Apple Inc. were being sold.
This action is part of the MP’s ongoing efforts to combat intellectual property crimes in the country. The information was provided by the MP’s Social Communication department, highlighting the importance of cracking down on the sale of counterfeit goods that violate intellectual property rights.
The operation marks a significant step in addressing the issue of counterfeiting in Guatemala and sends a strong message to those involved in such illegal activities. The MP’s commitment to upholding intellectual property rights remains steadfast, as they continue to work towards ensuring a fair and just marketplace for legitimate products.
