Municipal stadium of Sanremo: FdI questioning on the restoration of the grandstand

by admin

The restoration works of the grandstand of the municipal stadium of Sanremo are the focus of an inquiry by the councilor Luca Lombardi of the FdI group. He asked the mayor Biancheri and the competent councilor to “know if the Administration really intends to carry out the renovation of the covered grandstand in 2022 and, if so, how it intends to find the necessary funds”. And again, “if the Administration intends in the meantime to carry out a temporary intervention on the roofing of the grandstand, in order to allow for an increase in the capacity of the sports facility”. The intervention follows the news that “the renovation works of the covered grandstand have been included in the three-year program of the works and that there is no financial coverage”.

Lombardi points out that “the stadium can currently accommodate a small number of spectators, about 1250, distributed in the uncovered North tier with a capacity of about 800 seats and in the curve of the guest sector, with a capacity of about 450 seats, a reduced capacity due to the ‘unusability of the covered grandstand which for some time has been in a state of total decay and precariousness ”.

The councilor explains: «The municipal stadium of Sanremo can currently accommodate a small number of spectators, about 1250, distributed in the open North tier with a capacity of about 800 seats and in the curve of the guest sector, with a capacity of about 450 seats. This reduced capacity is due to the inaccessibility of the covered grandstand which for some time has been in a state of total decay and precariousness, in particular due to the conditions of the roof slab which is crumbling and falling apart due to the many infiltrations of water. and humidity but also due to the condition of the façade, all peeling off, of the numerous wooden window frames without glass and, finally, of the railings that do not meet the safety requirements because they are too low ».

And again: “Since its inauguration, the sports facility in Via Mazzini has been the historic Sanremese field, the Matuzian team that this season plays, with good results, in the Serie D championship, a circumstance that arouses a feeling of pride in all citizenship but which, at the same time, represents a potential driving force for the economy of the city also considering the ambition expressed by the president of the biancoazzurra team to win the championship and go to Lega Pro next year among the Professionals ».

Lombardi recalls that “the critical issues related to the structural conditions of the municipal stadium were brought to the attention of the undersigned by the city spokesman of the Brothers of Italy, Antonino Consiglio, after the topic was discussed in a meeting of the Sports Department of Brothers of Italy”.
