The new Lancia Ypsilon will be presented on February 14th. The weight of an equally announced relaunch weighs on the shoulders of the long-awaited model, that of a brand, Lancia, which has a truly glorious past, but which has remained confined to the margins for too long with all the negative consequences of the case. But the opportunity to reset this long timeline is now at the end credits.
Size increased by approximately 20 centimetres
Of course, we already know something about the car to summarize before seeing it in person. The new Ypsilon is a larger car than the model whose legacy it is preparing to take on. With a length of just over 4 meters, about 20 cm more than the soon-to-be-retired model. The style is new and personal with elements of a new stylistic language.
It’s all new even in the cockpit
The designers anticipated this with the Pu+ra HPE concept. From that aesthetic manifesto, the new Ypsilon takes its bright, glass-shaped grille as well as the round rear lights reminiscent of the Stratos and the 037 rally car. The 2024 Ypsilon is all new inside too. There are no official images provided so as not to penalize the wait for the debut which is imminent.
An unprecedented infotainment system
From initial information, the interior appears modern and elegant. The highlight of the interior, on which Lancia worked together with the Italian furniture house Cassina, is the multimedia system. Above the large central monitor there is a dedicated management module which, with a few touches, manages all the on-board functions, from the climate control to the car’s hi-fi.
The mechanics derived from Stellantis’ cousins
The ambient lights are also special, designed to make the atmosphere on board more chic. At the bottom, under the display, there is a sort of circular shelf with the plate for wireless charging of the mobile phone. But let’s get to the mechanical basis of the new Ypsilon which is the same as its two cousins both from Stellantis, namely the Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa.
