PayTech, 2020 marked by the pandemic: turnover dropped by 2% on 2019

In 2020, the total turnover of the 25 international PayTechs with revenues exceeding one billion euros amounted to € 140 billion. In general, the pandemic negatively impacted the balance sheets of these companies, which however showed good resilience, managing to contain the decline in aggregate turnover (-2% on 2019).

Between the Open Banking revolution, ever-changing macroeconomic contexts and an increasingly digital economy, the global scenario of the payments industry has radically changed its face and now sees banking giants competing with new technology platforms, challenger banks and BigTech.
