The new week opens with a negative tone for Piazza Affari. The Ftse Mib closed -0.28% at 24,749 points with the markets paying for the new rises in US treasury yields thanks to growing concerns related to inflation. In the background for Europe remains the uncertainty linked to the outcome of the French presidential elections. Outgoing president Emmanuel Macron will face Marine Le Pen in the second round on April 24th.

Sales today on the Atlantia stock (-1.09% to 21.83 euros) protagonist last week in the wake of the emergence of interest from the Spanish ACS and rumors about possible moves by the Benetton family to maintain control of the company. To partially extinguish the speculative appeal on the stock are the indications coming from the Bloomberg agency that sees Global Infrastructure Partners and Brookfield not considering any hostile approach for Atlantia. As part of the offer of the funds, Sintonia (the holding through which Edizione controls 33% of Atlantia) can opt to remain a shareholder of Atlantia, which will be delisted after the potential acquisition. GIP and Brookfield have also agreed to partner with Spain’s ACS to acquire a majority stake in Atlantia’s toll road concessions business if the acquisition is successful. Bloomberg reports that, for now, investment funds are awaiting the outcome of the talks between Sintonia and Blackstone.
