The population growth e consumerist lifestyles involve an ever-increasing use of raw material. Today the world economy consumes 100 billion tons of materials per year and the trend of increase in resource consumption will lead, according to theOECDto a consumption of 190 billion tons of materials by 2060. An unsustainable trend, also because the extraction and transformation of resources are responsible for 90% of loss of biodiversity e di water stress and for about half of global greenhouse gas emissions. It is urgent to implement actions to promote transition towards more sustainable and circular production and consumption modelsbased on an approach that gives more value to resources and extends the life of materials and products.
