Rigamonti acquires the King’s Group with the King’s and Principe brands

The diversification process of Rigamonti continues, world leader in bresaola, which now brings Parma and San Daniele ham to the table. The Sondrio-based company acquired the entire King’s Group with the King’s and Principe brands with the Group’s four factories in Sossano (Vicenza), San Daniele del Friuli (Udine), Calestano and Langhirano, in the Parma area. The agreement also concerns the ownership of the two historical and traditional brands of Made in Italy in the world: King’s, founded in 1907 in Sossano, Veneto, was recognized by the Ministry of Economic Development as a “Historical brand of national interest” while Principe, founded in 1945 in Trieste, it is the leader in the Prosciutto San Daniele Dop segment. The Rigamonti Group will also manage the entire operation of the Principe brand in the US which includes a slicing plant in New Jersey, and will hold 20% of the shares of Piggly, a sustainable pig farm, certified “100% antibiotic free” and “animal welfare “, With sites in the provinces of Mantua and Verona.

The acquisition of two historic brands that symbolize Made in Italy in the world, such as King’s and Principe, represents a further step towards achieving the objectives already declared by Rigamonti of becoming an increasingly important player in the segment of high-end delicatessen, with a certified supply chain and guaranteed and sustainable, also thanks to the fruitful collaboration with Italian breeders. With the purchase of these four factories we will manage, in addition to the Bresaola della Valtellina Igp segment, also the production districts of the most important segments of the Italian PDO delicatessen, such as Prosciutto di Parma Dop and Prosciutto San Daniele Dop. We are convinced – continues Palladi – that Rigamonti, in synergy with JBS, will be able to accelerate the development of these two important historical brands in Italy and abroad, especially in the USA, guaranteeing development and employment growth to their respective areas of settlement ».
With 135 million euros of net turnover in 2020, the Rigamonti Group is the world leader in the production of Bresaola. A company that has been able to launch the Bresaola phenomenon, bringing the typical product of Valtellina to markets all over the world: from the United Arab Emirates to Switzerland to the United Kingdom. Today the company, owned by Jbs and based in Montagna in Valtellina, has a distribution that covers 23 countries.
