Safety at work, Calderone: “No step backwards”

“No step backwards on job security. We will move forward to implement what has already been adopted since the government took office. But more will be done. This is the moment of condolence for the workers who lost their lives, of closeness to their families and of the verification of the facts by the judicial authority, which is being provided with every necessary support through the staff of the National Labor Inspectorate and the Carabinieri of the Labor Protection Command”. This was stated in a note by the Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Marina Calderone, in the aftermath of the tragedy on a construction site in Florence. In the next few days, in the Council of Ministers, the minister will announce a new package of rules to combat undeclared work, gangmastering and to protect safety in the procurement chain.
