The arbitration process in the collective bargaining dispute between Lufthansa and the service union Verdi for ground staff begins on Monday in Frankfurt am Main. The company appointed the former CEO of the Federal Employment Agency, Frank-Jürgen Weise, and Thuringia’s Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (Left) from the union as arbitrators. The arbitration should end on March 28th at the latest, as the collective bargaining parties announced.
At the beginning of March, Verdi called for a multi-day strike at Lufthansa, whose flight operations were massively affected as a result. There is now a peacekeeping obligation during the arbitration process. The union is demanding an increase in salaries by 12.5 percent, but at least 500 euros per month, for a period of twelve months. In addition, there should be a one-off inflation compensation bonus of 3,000 euros.
