Chip crisis, Google will develop its own CPU

The former Silicon Mitus team, just under 40 between engineers and technicians, has decided to participate almost entirely in the new challenge but the numbers of the staff are destined to grow, with six open positions to be filled and other hires planned for next year.

«The difficulty in finding resources is evident – adds the president of Inventvm, co-founder of the company together with the managing director Michele Chiabrera – and this is why we work a lot with universities, trying to attract the most interesting resources in time. In Pavia we also hold mixed courses, supporting internal teachers in some lessons, to try to transfer to young people the know-how that can be useful to companies, for example in digital processing ».

Inventvm formally starts at the beginning of 2021, taking over the ex Silicon Mitus assets in full, confirming the vitality of the territory in the field of microelectronics and ICT.

From the big names such as Stm, Infineon and Asr, passing through smaller companies and other start-ups, there are in fact numerous realities that choose Pavia as a location for their activities or research laboratories, also taking advantage of the skills of the local university, which over the years it has focused on electronics to create a pole of excellence.

«The attractiveness of the territory – adds Rezzi – continues to be high and the link with the university is fundamental. Of course, the dynamics of multinationals seem to have gone mad. Part of the ex-Marvell engineers then merged into eSilicon, a group taken over by Inphi, now purchased by Marvell itself. Our independence from this point of view is a value, an additional guarantee that product know-how and skills are developed in Italy not to migrate elsewhere but to stay here ».
