Toyota to Inspire Next Generation of Truck with Medium Pick-Up
The next generation of the Hilux, to be produced at the Zárate plant in Argentina, is set to take inspiration from the new generation Tacoma, which was unveiled by Toyota last year in the United States. The Tacoma, known as the American first cousin of the future Hilux, has received rave reviews, and it is expected that the new Hilux will follow suit.
The platform used for the Tacoma, TNGA-F, will also be used for the new Hilux, with the possibility of hybrid variants being offered. In the United States, the Tacoma TRD Pro variant stands out for its off-road capabilities, including Fox shock absorbers, modified suspensions, and a range of other components designed to enhance performance on rough terrain.
Inside, the Tacoma boasts a 12.3-inch instrument panel and a 14-inch multimedia center, with the latest Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 as part of its safety features. The TRD Pro version of the Tacoma comes equipped with a 2.4 turbo propeller and a 49 hp electric motor, combining to produce 330 HP and 64.2 kgm of torque via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new Hilux is expected to draw from the Tacoma’s successful features, offering a combination of sportiness and off-road performance, similar to the existing Hilux GR-Sport model developed by the Gazoo Racing division. With its cutting-edge technology and impressive performance, the next generation of the Hilux will undoubtedly excite fans of the popular pick-up truck.
