When I saw the Haval animal at the Chengdu Auto Show for the first time, I regretted ordering Big Dog. Because the design of the beast is more fashionable and young, and the whole series is equipped with HEV and PHEV hybrid technology, it is worth looking forward to in terms of energy saving and endurance.
On October 31, the Haval Monster Fan Meeting officially opened. The Haval Monster also opened the pre-sale mode, offering a total of 6 models of 1.5T and 2.0T fuel versions, with a pre-sale price ranging from 132,000 yuan to 169,000 yuan. Dogs are highly overlapping, but the two personalities face completely different users. Which car would you choose?
Obviously, from the appearance, the Haval animal is much younger and more fashionable than the big dog, and this design is younger and more technological than any other car in the Great Wall system. For families of some ages, it takes some courage to accept this young breath.
Compared with the toughness of the big dog, the surface of the Haval animal is very feminine, and it seems to be a high-tech model that has nothing to do with off-roading. But in fact, it is also equipped with BorgWarner’s fifth-generation four-wheel drive system, which is no different from Haval Big Dog. However, the real selling point of Haval Monster is its full range of hybrid system and intelligent driving control system.
For me personally, I value its full range of hybrids more. After all, the Great Wall system is not fuel-efficient before the hybrid technology is added (to be honest), although the powertrain is fully autonomous and accelerates and smooths. They are among the best in the same price range, but the ability to save fuel has always been criticized by the Great Wall.
It wasn’t until this year that the hybrid system was gradually mass-produced on the Great Wall series models, that this impression was really changed. Not long ago, I tested the H6S equipped with a hybrid system, and I did feel the earth-shaking changes in Haval’s fuel consumption and energy saving. Therefore, the Haval monster relying on this hybrid system is definitely a very high starting point.
According to the official data given by Haval, the overall efficiency of the power system can reach more than 50%, and the full tank of fuel has a battery life of 1000KM. Even if it is 20% off, it should be easy to open 800KM with a tank of fuel in life.
Of course, for Haval, what it really wants to promote is the smart driving part of this car. After all, it is the first Haval car equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip (previously only on the Wei brand series). The computing power has reached the peak of the automotive industry, so it has made a qualitative leap in functions such as automatic driving and automatic parking.
Since the Euler brand boldly shouted “women who know the best about car owners”, Great Wall Motors no longer shy away from its strategy of building cars for women. Although the Haval animal is more neutral in design, it is not biased towards women or men. But it still fully considers the needs of female car owners in some functions.
For example, parking and warehousing in various scenarios were all developed by Haval Monster. Through 5G T-BOX + front camera + autonomous driving domain controller + brake redundancy system + parking redundancy system, it has realized what has not been done before. AVP valet parking, point-to-point memory parking, exploring forward and fully automatic integrated parking functions.
AVP valet parking: The user drives into the AVP parking lot. The vehicle can automatically drive to the parking space and complete automatic parking. When the user wants to pick up the car, he can also let the vehicle arrive at the designated place to pick up passengers through the APP.
Memory parking: For the user’s own fixed parking space, the vehicle automatically completes the parking environment learning. While exploring and reversing, both in narrow road conditions, novice drivers cannot judge whether the vehicle can pass. Turn on these two functions to allow the car to explore the road ahead by itself. When encountering a broken road, it can also return to the original road. During this period, the driver does not need to dare to operate, which is very suitable for people in narrow alleys and old broken small communities in a congested environment.
More information about this car will have to wait for a test drive before any conclusions can be drawn. However, from the feedback experienced on the high-end models of the Great Wall system, it can be determined that this Haval animal should be the product with the “most sufficient technology configuration” in the Haval system. The only problem is that its high-end chips are more dependent, and subsequent terminal cars may have to be difficult to find.
Putting aside the problem of insufficient production capacity, the pricing of this car is highly overlapped with the Haval Big Dog, but its positioning is completely different. The Haval Big Dog is more focused on men and mature families, while the technological configuration of the Haval Monster is more inclined to take care of novice female drivers.
