The resource of Italian seaside tourism

by admin

The summer of 2021 sold out many Italian beaches and confirmed seaside tourism as a real industry in the sector. However, put to the test by the pandemic, the sector risks being considered a younger brother of the cultural one or concerning the villages also by the same National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr).

For this reason, after the bill to establish the status of a “seaside city” launched in September by the G20 Beaches of Jesolo, the Conference of Mayors of the Venetian Littoral and Eastern Venice tourist district are asking the institutions to take a change of pace: a first table of discussion is scheduled for Friday 5 November together with Il Sole 24 Ore and 24 Ore Eventi with the event “Costa Veneta: the resource of Italian seaside tourism. Visions, policies and strategies ”which will be held in live streaming and which aims to answer more than one question: what is the actual weight of seaside tourism in the Italian economic system? And what is the real attention that the country devotes to a sector defined as “strategic” for the post-pandemic restart? Does the National Recovery and Resilience Plan really invest in the attractiveness of coastal locations?

The work will begin at 9.30 with the balance of the seaside economy on the country system, a debate which will be attended by Magda Antonioli, University of Milan Bocconi, director of ACME; Bruno Barel, University of Padua, Sandro Cruciani, ISTAT central director for ISTA environmental and territorial statistics; Paolo Feltrin, University of Trieste. The focus will then shift to seaside tourism on the Venetian Coast: Gianluca Falcomer, president of the Conference of Mayors of Eastern Venice, Antonio Ferrarelli, president of the Eastern Venice Tourist District and national vice president of the Association of Italian Tourist Districts will discuss it; Roberta Nesto, mayor of Cavallino Treporti and president of the Conference of Mayors of the Venetian Coast.
