The Rise of Electronic Payments in Cuba with Transfermóvil Leading the Way

Transfermóvil, the Cuban application for mobile payments, has achieved record numbers in electronic commerce transactions. According to Arevich, payments for electricity services increased by 50.38% last year, telephone services by 87%, tax payments by 57.68%, and gas payments by 43.36%.

In December, Transfermóvil released its latest update, version 1.231214, which includes new features and improvements. Users can now easily open their tax account and establish a tax bank account directly from their mobile phone, without the need to visit a bank.

Etecsa launched Transfermóvil in 2015 in partnership with the banking system, originally focusing on public service payments. However, by 2018, the app expanded into electronic commerce, strengthening collaboration with the Cimex Business Group.

With these advancements, Transfermóvil continues to provide a convenient and efficient way for Cuban citizens to make online payments and manage their financial transactions.
