Eurotech, a leading company in the supply of secure solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) in mission critical applications, and Waterview, specialized in computer vision and AI solutions in the meteorological, hydrological and environmental modeling fields, have signed a memorandum of intended for a strategic partnership to create real-time monitoring applications of weather conditions.
Integrated solutions
Eurotech’s hardware and software enable quick and easy implementation of Waterview’s AI software in the field. The integrated solution transforms existing cameras into remotely controllable intelligent sensors, without replacing the existing infrastructure, to detect in advance the signals of increasingly frequent extreme atmospheric events and measure the effects of natural disasters.

Pilot projects
By joining their forces, Eurotech and WaterVIew are already demonstrating the potential of cameras as “sentinels” for the environment, to monitor weather events and their effects. The first pilot projects are already underway and several opportunities have been identified in the following sectors: intelligent infrastructures, reusing the cameras installed along highways and railway networks – about one device every three kilometers, over 100,000 cameras estimated between Europe and the USA; fleets of trains and trucks, where cameras are already used for other applications; telecommunication towers, with over 426 thousand sites in Europe alone, reaching more than a million including the USA.

In this way accidents can be avoided by analyzing the level of water or snow present on the road or on the tracks, damage from floods can be assessed at a distance and safely by evaluating the extent of flooding, forest fires can be prevented locating the smoke before the flames spread.
