A good year 2023: Thurgau’s economy is resilient

Energy prices are high, inflation remains, as does the labor shortage. Nevertheless, the Thurgau economy proves that it is crisis-proof. According to the latest corporate customer survey by Thurgauer Kantonalbank (TKB), the majority of companies can look back on a good year.

Geopolitical conflicts, inflation, high energy prices, the shortage of skilled workers and the strong franc are slowing down the economy and weighing on consumer sentiment. Nevertheless, the more than 500 Thurgau companies surveyed can look back on a good year, as the current TKB corporate customer survey shows. Across all industries, almost 90 percent of survey participants described the 2023 financial year as “satisfactory” or “good”. Remo Lobsiger, Head of Business Customers at TKB, says: “I was positively surprised by the confidence with which the companies look to the future.” Well, it’s not that surprising. The Thurgau economy has always shown itself to be resilient in recent years and has tackled the challenges with courage and optimism.
