Consumer Reports (CR) has recently released a list of the world‘s most trusted automotive manufacturers, based on data from over 330,000 vehicles spanning model years 2000 to 2023. The results highlight the reliability of Japanese brands, with six of them ranking in the top 10.

The ranking takes into consideration the problems CR members have experienced with their vehicles in the last 12 months. It evaluates 20 problem areas, from minor annoyances to major issues that could be costly to repair. Each major model is given a reliability rating on a scale of 1 to 100, with 100 being the highest rating.

Here are some of the top-ranking automotive manufacturers and their most reliable models according to Consumer Reports:

1. Lexus: Luxurious Toyota group brand Lexus tops the list with 79 points. Models like the ES, ES Hybrid, NX, NX Hybrid, RX, RX Hybrid, and UX are among the most reliable.

2. Toyota: The popular brand secures the second spot with 76 points. Models like the 4Runner, BZ4X, Corolla, RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid, Prius, and others stand out.

3. Mini: English manufacturer Mini takes the third spot with 71 points, with models like the Cooper and Cooper Countryman.

4. Acura: Honda’s premium brand Acura clinches the fourth position with 70 points, highlighting models like the Integra, MDX, RDX, and TLX.

5. Honda: Japanese firm Honda also scores 70 points, with models like Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic, CR-V, Pilot, and Odyssey making an appearance.

6. Subaru: Another Japanese brand, Subaru, secures sixth place with 69 points. Models like BRZ, Legacy, Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback are highlighted.

7. Mazda: Japanese-origin brand Mazda earns 67 points, with models like the Mazda 3, CX-30, CX-5, CX-50, and MX-5 Miata receiving top scores.

8. Porsche: German manufacturer Porsche attains 66 points, with models like Macan and Cayenne leading the way.

9. BMW: German brand BMW ranks ninth with 64 points, with models like the 2 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series, i4, iX, X1, X3, X5, X5 Plug-in-Hybrid, and X7 listed as reliable.

10. Kia: Closing the list is Korean manufacturer Kia with 61 points. Models like the EV, Forte, K5, Niro, Niro EV, Sorento, and Sportage are highlighted in the report.

The ranking by Consumer Reports sheds light on the most reliable automotive manufacturers and models, offering valuable insights for consumers looking to make informed purchasing decisions.
