Tractors, majority agreement: 50% Irpef discount for incomes between 10 thousand and 15 thousand euros

ROMA – A 50% discount is added to the refund of the Irpef exemption up to 10 thousand euros for incomes up to 15 thousand euros. The news filters from Palazzo Chigi: sources close to the dossier explain that the minister Giancarlo Giorgetti and the deputy minister Maurizio Leo, in close contact with the minister Francesco Lollobrigida, are preparing a government amendment on the Irpef issue.

The new amendment to the Milleproroghe decree, which will be presented very shortly, represents a compromise between the owner of the Mef Giancarlo Giorgetti, who wanted to stop at the 10,000 ceiling, and the League, with the group leader in the Chamber, Riccardo Molinari, who asked to reach to 30 thousand. A measure that the deputy minister Maurizio Leo and the minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida would like to make semi-structural, guaranteeing its validity in the medium term, sources close to the dossier have filtered through.

The support for the farmers, who have been protesting with their tractors for weeks, was immediately claimed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who in an interview with Tg5 stated that «What the farmers are asking for are the positions that the Italian government has held in Europe on many dossiers, and on some we won, such as on pesticides”.

But the Northern League also claims credit for the new amendment to the Milleproroghe: «It welcomes the spirit of the proposals that the League has been putting forward for days to protect agricultural workers». And Forza Italia, which speaks of “a result that covers over 95% of taxpayers in the sector”.

Reduction and exemption will apply only “to professional agricultural entrepreneurs and direct farmers individually or in simple companies”. The measure will not only be in force this year: the deputy minister Maurizio Leo and the minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida would like to make it semi-structural, guaranteeing its validity in the medium term.

The cancellation of the Irpef exemption, a relief in force for several years, is among the demands of the farmers, who took to the streets with tractors. In the previous days, however, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had made it known that she considered it “an unfair measure”, which “had especially favored large entrepreneurs and companies with high business volumes”. This is why it is now being reintroduced again, with an amendment to the Milleproroghe, but excluding high incomes.
