ROME. Dream villas on the shores of Lake Como or the crystalline waters of the Costa Smeralda and luxury mega-yachts moored in Liguria: these are the assets frozen by the Guardia di Finanza to Russian oligarchs included in the EU blacklist after the invasion of ‘Ukraine. Freezing involves the preventive blocking of the use of the property, including, among other things, the sale, rent and mortgages. It is decided by the Economic-Financial Security Committee based in the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the basis of the investigations carried out throughout Italy by the Guardia di Finanza. In total, 680 Russian oligarchs and officials have been targeted by EU sanctions.

Villa in Costa Smeralda oligarch Alisher Usmanov, majority shareholder of Metalloinvest and former general manager of Gazprom Invest, friend of Vladimir Putin. Located in the Gulf of Pevero, the frozen real estate complex has an estimated value of 17 million euros. Usmanov is at home in Gallura so much that he is an honorary citizen of Arzachena and is known as a benefactor, for having given two ambulances to the Municipality, but above all for the social life in his dream properties. Maxi-yacht «Lady M» by Alexey Alexandrovits Mordaschov, major shareholder and chairman of Severstal, a Russian conglomerate with interests in metal, energy and mining. His family is considered the richest in Russia. Located in the port of Imperia, the yacht is over 60 meters long and is worth 65 million euros.
