Vannacci: “I have never said that disabled children and young people should be in classes separate from others”
First of all, an important clarification to which the general Roberto Vannacci, an independent candidate on the League’s list in the European elections on 8-9 June, is very important. “I have never said that disabled children and young people should be in separate classes from others. I said that they must be together with other children and young people but that specific commitments and also adequate and dedicated structures would be needed for moments of particular attention paid to their disabilities. Exactly what many parents with disabled children would like to do but unfortunately these structures are very few and the waiting lists are very long”, he explains to Affaritaliani.it. “It is enough to reread my statements to realize how much I wanted to express, also mentioning the need for specialists to specifically deal with disabilities. Unfortunately there is a bad habit on the part of a certain press of making high-sounding headlines that go beyond the words expressed in the interview with the precise aim of demonizing the interlocutor and distorting the thoughts expressed”.
As for the words of many members of the League, first of all – but not only – the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti who stated ‘Vannacci is not a Northern League member and I don’t share his ideas’, as did Centinaio, Fedriga and other Northern League members, the general responds calmly but clearly and clearly: “These are internal party diatribes which I consider more than legitimate but what I’m not interested. I have an idea of tradition, homeland, culture and sovereignty very similar to that of the League and which I will carry forward independently.”
But did those criticisms bother you? “Absolutely not. These are internal discussions that do not concern me. The problem will be resolved by the citizens’ vote, if they vote for me I will be elected otherwise I will do something else. I once again thank Minister Salvini for the opportunity offered to me to run, and I am convinced that together we will move forward tough battles to truly change this Europe and to ensure that Italy is more influential, more decisive, more prestigious and more listened to within the European Union. There were no contracts with the secretary of the League, as some claim , but talks and discussions culminated on April 25th with Salvini’s announcement of my candidacy as an independent on the League’s lists.
