This afternoon, AITO Auto official Weibo released an āExplanation on Technical Issues Related to the Wenjiexin M7 Plus in the Traffic Accident on the Houping Expressway Section in Shanxi Province.ā The statement provided a detailed interpretation and response to the questions that have been at the forefront of everyoneās concerns.
On April 26, 2024, a traffic accident occurred on the Houping Expressway in Shanxi Province involving a new M7 Plus. The vehicle rear-ended a road maintenance vehicle while driving in the inner fast lane. Following the accident, Wenjie actively cooperated with the traffic police department in conducting investigations and provided all necessary data to determine the cause of the accident.
The official statement addressed four major questions that have been raised regarding the technical issues related to the accident involving the Wenjie M7 Plus:
Question 1: Why did the automatic emergency braking (AEB) function fail to avoid a collision?
According to the explanation, the vehicleās braking system was functioning normally before the collision. The AEB system has a working range of 4 to 85 km/h, but the vehicleās speed at the time of the collision exceeded this range at 115 km/h.
Question 2: What caused the vehicle fire? Has the battery spontaneously ignited?
The statement clarified that the collision caused serious damage to the front engine room and passenger compartment, leading to a fire. The power battery pack did not spontaneously ignite.
Question 3: Is the airbag deployed normally?
Before the collision, the vehicleās airbag system was functioning normally, and airbags deployed as expected during the collision.
Question 4: Can the car door be opened after the collision?
The Wenjie M7 Plus has a collision automatic unlocking function, but due to damage to the power lines and signals in the front engine room and passenger compartment, the door handle controller could not receive the pop-up signal. Rescuers had to break the window and pull the inner handle of the mechanical door to open the door for rescue operations.
AITO Autoās official statement provided detailed technical explanations for the questions surrounding the accident involving the Shanxi Wenjie M7 Plus. The company expressed deep regret for the incident and emphasized their commitment to safety and transparency in addressing the concerns of Wenjie users and the public.
