The appointment with the World Investor Week (Wiw), the ‘world week of the investor’, this year in its fifth edition, is back in October. The main objective is to promote basic financial literacy to reduce the vulnerability of savers to the risks of scams and to disseminate the minimum knowledge necessary to seize the opportunities of the markets. The initiative, curated in Italy by Consob, is part of a project launched in 2017 by Iosco, the global organization of regulatory and supervisory authorities on financial markets, to which about 100 countries out of 130 Iosco members adhere.
Starting from Monday 4 October for a whole week, financial education events will be organized throughout Italy – from large cities to small and very small centers – aimed at reaching the general public: young people, students, adults, seniors, families, businesses. Many training tools used, both traditional and innovative: theatrical performances, quizzes, fairy tales, conferences, seminars. The focus of the 2021 edition will be concentrated on sustainable finance and fraud prevention. Among the other topics covered are cryptocurrencies and decision-making processes for conscious investment.
Since 2018, Wiw has been an integral part of the Financial Education Month, organized in October by the National Committee for Financial Education, of which Consob is a member.
