90 kilos later: John Goodman unrecognizable after spectacular weight loss

by admin

American actor John Goodman (71) was spotted by paparazzi this week when he and his wife Anna Beth (55) stopped on their way to an airport to sign autographs to fans. The star of films such as The Big Lebowsky, The Flintstones and Monsters, Inc. has undergone a complete transformation in recent years and has lost more than ninety (!) kilograms.

Goodman was best known to the general public for his role as Dan Conner in the popular sitcom Roseanne. The actor played Roseanne Barr’s fictional husband from 1988 to 1997 and returned for the series’ reboot in 2018. But the difference with more than thirty years ago is big: almost one hundred kilograms.

And that is the result of years of hard work. In an interview with David Letterman in 2010, he admitted that he weighed 180 kilograms at the time. But the actor was determined to put an end to that. Seven years later, he told ABC News: “It used to be that I would take three months off, lose about 30 pounds and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old ways. But this time I wanted to do it differently. I’m getting to an age where I can no longer afford to sit still.”

Personal trainer

According to Goodman, it was “just a matter of portion control.” “Then I told myself I don’t need it. But in the meantime I just shoved everything into my mouth.” He therefore turned to a personal trainer who encouraged him to exercise six times a week. Goodman also bought fitness equipment and became conscious about exercise and food.

But that wasn’t the only change. In 2007, the actor decided to stop drinking alcohol. “I had to accept an Emmy. But I missed the rehearsal because I was drunk. And on Sunday morning I was still shaking.” Goodman knew things couldn’t go on like this and so he called his wife. He was admitted to a clinic and decided to kick the habit.
