Anne Hathaway continues to shine in the world of cinema with her latest project for Amazon Prime, ‘The Idea of Having You’. In a recent interview with the New York Times, the 41-year-old actress revealed a personal milestone – she has been sober for over five years.
Hathaway expressed her thoughts on turning 40, stating, “40 is like a gift. The fact is that I hesitate to call things ‘middle-aged’ simply because I can be correct and say so but then get hit by a car later today. I don’t know if this is middle age.” She emphasized the uncertainty of life, saying, “We don’t know anything.”
The talented actress shared her decision to stay sober, explaining, “I knew deep down it wasn’t for me. And it seemed so extreme to have to say, ‘But none?’ But none. If you’re allergic to something or have an anaphylactic reaction to something, you don’t discuss it. So I stopped discussing that. My personal experience is that everything is better.”
Hathaway revealed that she gave up alcohol to be a better mother to her husband Adam Shulman’s sons, Jonathan and Jack. In a 2019 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, she recounted a hangover on a school day and shared, “She’s getting to an age where she really needs me all the time, in the mornings.”
Anne Hathaway’s journey to sobriety and her commitment to being a present and engaged mother serves as an inspiration to many. Her openness about her personal experiences and decisions sheds light on the importance of self-care and prioritizing mental and emotional well-being.
