The National Meteorological Service (SMN) launched this afternoon a yellow alert for extreme heat in sectors of Río Negro and Neuquén, provinces that in the coming days will experience oppressive days, a new heat wave, with records that will not drop below 35 degrees in the Valleys area.
The SMN’s extreme heat alert includes the east of Neuquén and the Upper Río Negro Valley area. More precisely, the warning from the national organization is, in the case of Neuquén, for the departments of Confluencia, where the majority of the Neuquén population lives; the east of the oil department of Añelo; the east of Pehuenches; and the entirety of Picún Leufú.
In Río Negro the warning for high temperatures covers the General Roca department, also the most populated in the province, and Cuy, to the south of the latter.

The yellow alert for extreme heat means that temperatures may have a mild to moderate health effect. They can be dangerous, especially for risk groups, such as boys and girls, people over 65 years of age, with chronic diseases.
What to expect in the coming days
Starting this Saturday, one of the hottest periods of this summer begins in much of Neuquén and Río Negro.
During the next For eight days, temperatures will be above 35 degrees every day. in the Upper Valley area. For Wednesday and Thursday, values around 40 degrees are expected.
This same panorama is projected for the Middle Valley Zone, in the center of Río Negro.
The Rio Negro Coast, including Las Grutas, will have high values but not at the level of those experienced in the east of the province.
In Neuquén, in addition to the Confluencia department, also the Añelo oil zone will experience a “hellish” week.
