The SMN’s extreme heat alert includes the east of Neuquén and the Upper Río Negro Valley area. More precisely, the warning from the national organization is, in the case of Neuquén, for the departments of Confluencia, where the majority of the Neuquén population lives; the east of the oil department of Añelo; the east of Pehuenches; and the entirety of Picún Leufú.

In Río Negro the warning for high temperatures covers the General Roca department, also the most populated in the province, and Cuy, to the south of the latter.
